Letter to the host family

Dear host family,

My name is Jessica Pinheiro, I'm a 22 year old from Juazeiro do Norte, Brazil and I would love to be your au pair.
I live with my parents and my two siblings. My mother, Isaura, is a dentist. My father, Rogério, is a teacher and an electrician. I have an older sister, Bruna, who is a lawyer and a younger brother, Bruno, who is a college student and an English teacher.
I am also a college student. I went to law school for about a year and a half, but I didn't like it and decided to drop out to pursue what I really wanted. Now I am majoring in journalism. I like journalism and I plan on taking some classes in my area when I become an au pair. Before deciding my major, I went to cooking school and got myself a technical degree. Cooking is my hobby and I love it. I also like to teach. I taught at an English school in my city for a semester, but I had to quit because of my classes. Now I have a scholarship at college. I teach English to students and professors there once a week and I get paid for it.
I am currently a part-time nanny for a 4 year-old boy too. I bathe him, prepare his lunch, play with him, help with his school activities and sometimes I get to put him to bed. I also eventually babysit his 5 year-old cousin Maria Paula. In 2012 I used to babysit my neighbor’s niece, Frida. She was 8 at the time. I helped her with homework and taught her a little bit of English. I genuinely love to be with children and there's nothing in this world that can make me happier than to be around those pretty awesome miniature human beings. Kids are honest, affectionate and full of character. Taking care of kids is a definite skill set; it helps me to develop my negotiation abilities and to be more patient, creative and responsible. I just really love kids in general. There's absolutely no higher honor than a 7 year old saying you're cool.
Besides cooking, my favorite activities are reading, writing, going to the gym, watching tv shows and movies (great to help me improve my english skills), biking, roller skating and hanging out with friends. I also play the keyboard (just a little) and I want to learn to how to play the guitar. I'm interested in languages (I understand spanish and speak it intermediately) and I'm trying to learn french by myself. I am also interested in photography, documentaries and painting (I paint a little too).
I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me. I would love to learn about you and your family. I hope I am the right person to be part of your family and take care of your children. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Have a nice day!

Jessica.
